This homeowner on the lake had her whole family coming in to visit for a week. She wanted everyone to stay at her home so they could make the most of their trip, but she knew that there was not enough beds in the house so she got creative. She called Marshall Exteriors to bring her idea of transforming her once storage shed into a cabin for her beloved grandkids.
The Marshall Exteriors carpentry crew began by building in a frame on the portion of the shed that the lawn mower once used as an access point. The rest of the 6x22 ft. structure needed framing in the interior to hold the walls, flooring and to allow for installation of new windows. The project then moved on to creating six new openings for the smaller sized VWD double hung windows that would be installed. The floor needed special attention as a sub floor needed to be built to allow for the tile to be laid. After all the framing was complete, insulation covered the walls before the white paneling was installed on the walls and ceiling. A beautiful faux wood tile flooring was chosen to cover the floor for its style and durability. The exterior of the shed was wrapped in CertainTeed vinyl siding in ‘white’ color, aluminum fascia and vinyl soffits. A Builders Choice entry door was added to the shed. To complete this shed’s transformation into a cabin, black shutters and flower boxes were added. The homeowner took such pride in her new space she gave it a beautiful Americana theme and decorated the outside for fall. She is very excited for her family to experience the new “sleeping cabin”.
