These homeowners loved their 1300 sq. ft house so they were not willing to move but wanted more space. This family felt cramped when people came over to visit. The main level of the home was the only usable living space, so all utilities and furniture were on the same floor. The basement was already framed in as the family was trying to finish themselves but didn’t have the time.
It was the homeowners goal to completely finish the basement to create extra space. Because the homeowner was knowledgeable about home construction projects, he worked with Anthony to determine what they could complete on their own to save money. The homeowner had already framed in the whole basement. It was determined that the homeowner would complete the trim work around windows, painting and some drywall around the stairs.
The Marshall Exteriors crew put up drywall around the outside of the space and installed a beautiful prestige drop ceiling with recessed lighting. Creating a closed in space behind the stairway allowed for extra storage. Using a portion of the space, a room was built to use as the new laundry area. The floor area was covered with a comfortable, attractive carpet. The new, large finished basement added a lot of extra living space where a play area was created for their son, an open space to use as they please, and space for a large sofa and TV.
The family loves their new basement that doubled the size of their home!
