Jerry saw a Facebook post about the benefits of insulating a home. He replied to the post asking questions about insulating a garage and how we might tackle that project. A free assessment was scheduled and Adam was at Jerry’s home that night! Using the FLIR camera, Adam found multiple areas where the air was entering and escaping the garage while all doors were closed. The use of the FLIR camera assisted the salesman and homeowner in identifying the exact areas that needed to be insulated. Jerry agreed to have Marshall Exteriors insulate his garage right away. A challenge that came about was that there was no access space to the attic above the garage.
To insulate the garage appropriately, the Marshall Exteriors crew took the siding off the rear gable and cut an access hole through the wall. The crew was then able to blow in 10” of Cellulose insulation to achieve an R-value of 38, the NYS recommended value. Adding this much insulation will slow the heat and cold air transfer through the ceiling, keeping the interior temperature consistent longer! When the crew was finished, they covered the access hole and re installed the siding.
