Basement Finishing Case Studies: Finished Basement in Ontario, NY

Tuesday, July 24th, 2018 by Ann Krueger

The homeowners called Marshall Exteriors looking to transform their unused basement into extra living space for their growing family.

One of our estimators, Adam, went to meet the homeowner at their house to talk about the basement. Immediately Adam saw the potential for this basement! He talked with the homeowners about how they wanted to use the space and found out that they still wanted storage in the basement as well as an open living space. It was their vision that the stairway would become a beautiful entry instead of the eyesore that it was. To begin, 2” of spray foam insulation was added to the rim joist to make this basement weather tight.  The team then installed the metal framing to support the Everlast wall panels that are resistant to mold and mildew making this the longest lasting basement remodel product. Once the electric was completed to allow for dimmable can lighting, mold and sag resistant Prestige ceiling tiles went up. The floor received ThermalDry interlocking carpeted floor tiles in a ‘mocha’ color to give a durable yet comfortable solution to the concrete. The tiles combine a waterproof base with beautiful finished floor surfaces. The center posts in the room were wrapped in PVC to bring beauty to the necessary supports. The homeowners now have more room to enjoy their growing family.
