Spring Fever? Lets Party!

Its official, spring is here! It’s a reason to celebrate, there’s warmer weather, beautiful flowers and incredible holidays! Time to let the party planner within you bloom!

Whether your hosting a Cinco de Mayo Party, Kentucky Derby Party, a Bridal or Baby Shower, Graduation, Birthday Day party, Mother’s Day, or Memorial Day celebration, events involve a lot of planning.  And we all know that spring kicks off the party season.

Start your party right! Here are 5 questions that will help you get started planning.

Party Checklist:

  1. Who and Why- who is the party for (business, family, friends) and what is the reason for the party? (theme, birthday, special occasion)
  2. When is the party?
  3. How many people are you inviting? (Having this number will help you to determine the answer to next question)
  4. Where is the party going to be? (Number of guest will help you determine where the party should be held)
  5. What type of party is it? (brunch, lunch, dinner, kid friendly or adult only)

Once you have established the, who, why, when, and where the rest will fall right into place. Below I have listed some ideas to help you get started. And as always, my go too àPinterest, has fun creative ideas and recipes for your party.

  • A Bee Themed Party can cover a variety of celebrations. Happy Bee-day. What Will it Bee (Baby Shower)!  To New Bee-ginnings (Graduation, Wedding)!  This type of party would make for a great brunch or lunch. Honey ham or chicken, honey combs, honey nut cheerio chex mix, bee-stingers (fruit on a stick) and of course sweet treats. Bee-creative (I couldn’t resist that pun), create an EpiPen “shot”, the adult version or the kid version using Jello (black & yellow jello of course).
  • Cinco de Mayo Party- set up a buffet taco bar, chips, layer dips, salsa, Margarita’s, Sangria and Churros to complete your menu. Decorate with lots of bright colors, flowers, Mexican blankets, sombreros, and whether the party is kid friendly or adult only you certainly need to finish the theme off with a piñata.
  • Have a Kentucky Derby viewing party? Horses, roses, bourbon, big hats, food and have fun with bets. It’s the Super Bowl of spring, only a little fancier.  Decorate with red roses, horse shoes, horses (not real ones of course), and trophies. Play horse shoes, pin the tail on the horse, and of course you must place your bets on a horse. Create a menu of Kentucky favorites, hot brown sliders, mini bourbon pecan pies, pimento cheese dip and of course mint julip cocktails.
  • Celebrate Mom with a Bitesize Brunch. Create a menu with bite sized breakfast foods; mini parfaits, little egg & spinach bites, mini pancakes or French toast sticks and a signature MOMosa. Decorate your space with flowers, candles and family photos that highlight mom and grandma.
  • Memorial Day party should be simple; RED! WHITE! and BLUE! If the weather permits, turn your backyard into a barbeque. Create an “All American Menu”, hots, hams, salads, fruits and pie. Fill up an inflatable pool with ice to keep your salads and drinks cool. Set glass jars up with Memorial Day party favors; RW&B candy, bubbles, glow sticks, poppers and sparklers. Don’t forget the games! Cornhole, KanJam, Ladder toss, and Bocce ball. Have a water balloon fight with a twist. Fill the balloons with RED, WHITE and BLUE paint and give all your guest a white t-shirt.

celebrate May!
